Ruby toward purple in color, an unoaked, medium-bodied and softly tannic blend of 60% Merlot and 20% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Israeli Wine Region
Although tiny, wine production in Israel has caught international attention due to a quality conscious approach by its modern wine industry. The demand for Kosher wines throughout the world has also propelled the Israeli wine industry.
International varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay have achieved considerable success in regions like the Carmel Valley and Galilee Heights among others.
Bordeaux Blend
A Bordeaux Blend, at its most basic, is any combination of those grape varieties typically used to make the red wines of Bordeaux. The phrase, which seems to have originated with British wine merchants in the 19th century, relates as readily to wines made from the blend as to the grape variety combination itself. Far from being an officially defined or legal term, it is almost never used for wine labeling purposes, although it occasionally appears on back labels. Its US equivalent is Meritage®, which is not only legally defined, it is also a registered trademark.
